This "Jaguar" is a reproduction by Renato of an original Mayan carving found in Chichen Itza, Yucatán
Period: Post-Classic 975- 1200 A.D.
The Jaguar, considered by The Mayans as brave animals, were used often to decorate the entrances to the sacred temples. They were seen as protectors of the warriors whose main duty was to take prisioners for sacrifice.
